We are excited to announce THE YARD, who is recently re-opened its doors, is throwing a New Years Eve Party to send 2010 off with the bang it deserves - with doors openin...g at 22:00. The celebration will lend style and panache to the Brighton’s already colourful music scene.

A mix of cosmopolitan clubbers and local DJ’s will offer an experience that is both sophisticated and hedonistic into the small hours of 2011. In the Basement room we bring you the best in House, Tech House and Techno from CHARLY LOPEZ & AARON PELAEZ who brought you the undisputed champion of after hours entertainment, Blow – The After Party. On its second edition, this unmissable event brings to Madame Geisha an unique night of Brazilian Vibes brought by DJs and Live performance.

Our events begins with the Brighton's based band MARACATU CRUZEIRO DO SUL rumbling its heavy drums inside the venue with the authentic music from the Northeast of Brazil which tells the History of the African slaves and the Portuguese Colonization on 19th century before Brazil becomes a Democratic Republic .

Followed by this fantastic Live performance DJs RAY MORGADO & DJ LULA will be in charge for the main room spinning Brazilian pop tunes, House music and loads more to make sure everyone is busy on the dancefloor.

Our special Guest DJ GIL MAHADEVA will be responsible for the Tech House Room with his original remixes and the best of electronic beats around this planet.

Marcelo D2 comes all the way from Rio de Janeiro for 3 presentations in the UK.

We BR40 and JAP studies are very please to announce our partnership with ArteventsBr, a London's based events company in order to bring an "A Class" Brazilian Artist to the one of the most famous Beach in the world. Brighton Beach is hosting this mega event which besides Marcelo D2 will be bringing other Uk based artists:

ULISSES BEZERRA, son of Be...zerra da Silva, a legendary Brazilian Samba roots composer and interpreter. ULISSES will be sharing the stage with Marcelo D2 at some point of the show bringing special vibes to our night at Concorde 2.

SAMUEL J, a solo artist/producer, who’s earthy music has traveled the world with him; branching out through word of mouth and the potency of his performances. His melodies and beats are inspired by the belief that Music has the true power to bring people together, creating essential unity in a divided world.

RAY MORGADO, Brazilian and Brighton's based DJ will be responsible for the Brazilian Grooves before MARCELO D2 takes over the stage. Ray Morgado hosts the most traditional Brazilian Party in Town since the year 2000. His promisses a special set custom made by this event.

MARCELO D2 a former vocalist of the band Planet Hemp, started his solo career in 1998 with the critically acclaimed album Eu Tiro é Onda, a hip hop album well accepted by the public and rap movement within São Paulo, earning respect from names such as Black Alien, Zé Gonzalez, Dj Nuts and Bnegão.

A Procura da Batida Perfeita, his sophomore effort mixed hip-hop with samba and included a collaboration with will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. Since, he's released a further 2 albums garnering more widespread acclaim, and a whole new audience partial to his hip hop, rap and samba crossover tunes.

Another summer time is passing by and as usual, we always celebrate the hottest season of the year with our traditional Brazilian Party in Brighton.
Next Thursday, September 26th we will be hosting our monthly party at Madame Geisha, bringing to the Brazilian community and non-Brazilians, but passionate people for Brazilian music and specially for the nice vibes present at our events, the best Brazilian tunes with 2 Brazilian DJs + a Dance group.

DJ RAY MORGADO and DJ LULA will be spinning some hot Brazilian tunes and also fresh House & pop music to keep Madame Geisha's guest smiling throughout the night!

The Notting Hill Carnival 2010

Held each August Bank Holiday since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe. Every year the streets of West London come alive, with the sounds and smells of Europe's biggest street festival. Twenty miles of vibrant colourful costumes surround over 40 static sound systems, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, over 40,000 volunteers and over 1 million Notting Hill carnival revellers.

Starting its life as a local festival set up by the West Indian community of the Notting Hill area, it has now become a full-blooded Caribbean carnival, attracting millions of visitors from all over the globe. With many astonishing floats and the sounds of the traditional steel drum bands, scores of massive sound systems plus not forgetting the hundreds of stalls that line the streets of Notting Hill. The Notting Hill Carnival is arguably London's most exciting annual event.

The Notting Hill Carnival usually gets under way on the Saturday with the steel band competition. Sunday is Kids' Day, when the costume prizes are awarded. On Bank Holiday Monday, the main parade takes place. It generally begins on Great Western Road, then winds its way along Chepstow Road, on to Westbourne Grove, and then Ladbroke Grove. In the evening, the floats leave the streets in procession, and people carry continue partying at the many Notting Hill Carnival after parties.

The Notting Hill Carnival dates for 2010 are August 29th and 30th. Our Brighton's based band " Maracatu Cruzeiro do sul" will be parading this year with the London's "Maracatu Estrela do Norte", that is an amazing opportunity to see these two bands jamming together in the biggest Carnival party of Europe.

On Saturday 31st July 2010, from the hours of 10.00 to 21.00 London will host the Largest Brazilian Event in Europe, a Free Entry Festival called Brazilian Day in London. Hosted at The O2, Meridian Gardens with Folkloric and regional shows presented at The O2, Peninsular Square. The festival will celebrate, and promote genuine Brazilian culture through: music, dance, food, drink and tourism.

This year Brazilian Day will be even bigger and better than last year's success. The music will appeal to a wide international audience with irresistible rhythms and beats drawing people together. Well known artists will be flown in from Brazil, including 'Fundo de Quintal' and 'Cesar Menotti e Fabiano'. They will be performing along with Brazilian artists that reside in the UK and will be showcasing the enormous diversity of Brazilian music with styles such as Forro, Samba, Pagode and MPB (Brazilian Pop). Serginho Groisman will once again be leading the way as the main presenter of Brazilian Day London 2010 which we are very happy to announce will be held in the Meridian Gardens and Peninsular Square at The O2, London.
